I have been Chair of Governors for a number of years. I am pleased to introduce the Governing Body of Ovingham CE First School to you. We are a group of appointed volunteers who each have their own skills and strengths. We have the common aim of working closely with the Headteacher and staff to promote the high standards of our wonderful school.
The 9 Governors meet regularly and comprise representatives of staff, parents, the trust and the church. The exact make-up is listed below.
Our role is to be accountable for the performance of the school to the trust board. Working with the Chief Executive of the trust, the Headteacher and the staff to set the aims of the school and its priorities for improvement.
At Ovingham CE First School we are proud that our school creates a happy, caring, environment, with very high standards of attainment and behaviour, together with a Christian ethos in which every child is valued and nurtured.
Our aim is to remain committed to that ethos and support our children, parents and staff in being able to rise to the challenges of the curricular and extracurricular activities.
Our culture of learning, friendship, caring cooperation and determination is embedded within the learning environment of the school as we endeavour to prepare our children to take their place in the world.
Together we work with the Headteacher and staff to assess the effectiveness and quality of teaching with an emphasis on the personal development, behaviour and welfare of our children.
We want to continue our commitment to ensure open communication with our parents and we welcome your feedback.
As Governors, we aim to make parents feel welcome at all times in our school and we welcome any interest in the work of the Governing Body, please do not hesitate to contact me, another member of the Governing Body or member of staff for further information.
