As Headteacher of Ovingham C of E First School, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our vibrant, caring and happy school. We are proud to be a Church of England school and our three core Christian values of faith, hope and love permeate everything we do.

As a school community, we create strong partnerships with others and strive to enable all children within our care to flourish academically, socially and spiritually, both as individuals and as part of our school family. We aim to inspire with an engaging curriculum, high quality first teaching and experiences that will equip pupils with the skills and knowledge they need for life in the 21st Century.

In our school, we endeavour for our children to foster a passion for discovering new things, to be curious about the world around them and to be independent, enthusiastic learners. Our whole school community truly believes that all children are unique individuals. Our aims therefore are to provide a high quality education which supports yet challenges, to ensure that our curriculum is enriched and tailored to each child we serve and to maintain an engaging, purposeful and interactive school environment.

We are passionate in ensuring that our curriculum places equal emphasis on all subject areas and not simply Reading, Writing and Maths. We appreciate that our children need to excel within these core areas, which they do, demonstrated through our high standards and results. However, we also respect that our children need many other skills, qualities and learning opportunities to be truly successful throughout life.

We know that every child is unique and we offer our pupils as many opportunities as possible to embrace their strengths, both inside and outside the classroom, using our fantastic school grounds for activities such as Forest School, outdoor learning and PE and sport. Music is also an important part of life in school with our wonderful school choir and opportunities to learn the guitar and keyboard.

I hope that you find all the information you need on our website and that it gives you an insight into our truly wonderful school. If you have any further questions or would like to have a look around, please contact our school office and we will be happy to help in whatever way we can.
